Our design for the Centre of Excellence in Bangalore seamlessly blends culture, education, and innovation with sustainability as its core theme. The cultural zone features spaces for seminars, inviting lounges, and a verdant green amphitheater, fostering dialogue and inclusivity while celebrating heritage.
The education zone is a testament to sustainability and functionality. Open courtyards promote natural ventilation, swales manage rainwater efficiently, and shaded walkways reduce heat gain. Materials like Sadarahalli granite, laterite, and bamboo trellises, each chosen for their local availability and environmental benefits, form the building’s façades. The west façade stands out with its unique bamboo-and-vine design, responding to sun conditions and creating a striking visual identity.
The landscape strategy revives the site's natural slope and waterways, channeling rainwater through swales and constructed wetlands for reuse in irrigation. A walkable campus design, with underground parking and car-free ground levels, ensures accessibility and a people-friendly environment.
This project embodies the Council of Architecture’s vision for a sustainable and inclusive future, where design, nature, and community thrive in harmony.
